Aaron Broussard punctuated a career high 21 points with desperation 3 from the top o f the arc to propel Seattle to an 80-77 victory over Portland State on Super Bowl Sunday. It was a back anf forth thriller which featured 14 ties and 10 lead changes. SU snapped a three game losing streak to the Vikings. They had not won in the series since Jan. 16 1979. Seattle and Portland State met twice last season. Portland State defeated SU 81-67 to capture 3rd place at the Great Alaska Shootout. They followed that triumph with a narrow win in Portland one week later.
Seattle Connections:
Mike Boxley’s older brother Seamus was one of the best players in Portland State history. Seamus earned Outstanding Freshman of the Big Sky, twice 1st team All-Conference, twice Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year and Big Sky Player of the Year in his decorated career.
First year Head Coach Tyler Gevin spent three seasons as an assistant coach for Joe Callero at Seattle University from 2001-04.
Scouting Portland State:
The Vikings are two time defending Big Sky Tournament champions. Last year the Vikings were bounced from the NCAA tournament by a strong Xavier team 77-59 and two years ago they were handed an 85-61 thumping at the hands of national power Kansas. The successful stint led to the departure of Ken Bone to Washington State University and the elevation of assistant Tyler Gevin to the top job. The Vikings have completed Big Sky competition this season and were able to fend off Eastern Washington for a sixth place finish. Only the top 6 teams advance to the Bid Sky conference tournament so the Vikings will travel to Montana State this weekend for a quarterfinal tournament game. The expectations were high for Portland State heading into the season, but their campaign has been uneven. Offense has not been the problem- the Vikings lead the Big Sky in scoring (79.0 points per game), field goal percentage (.480), three-point percentage (.375) and three-pointers made (8.7). Their starting five oozes with offensive talent and their fast pace plays to their talent. Defense has been an issue. Portland State yields an incredible 79.6 points per game. To make matter worse University of Washington transfer Phil Nelson broke his foot shortly before the first meeting with Seattle. He has been lost for the year. However, Portland State surged to the finish line by capturing big victories over Idaho State and conference leading Weber State.
The Ones to Watch:
Dominic Waters- 6’1 180 SR G- 19.4 ppg 2 rbd 5 assts
Waters is a tremendously gifted offensive player. The transfer from Hawaii leads the team in scoring and assists. He shoots nearly 50% from the field and nearly the same from 3. He is a true triple threat on offense. He can shoot the ball, use his athleticism to get to the rim or feed his teammates for open looks. He torched Seattle last year in two games for 38 combined points in two games while hitting 6 of 8 from 3. Garrett Lever did an outstanding job on Waters in the first meeting as he was held to 15 points. Foul trouble was a factor as well the first time around. Waters is averaging 28 points per game in his last 5.
Jamie Jones- 6’7 220 SR F- 14.4 ppg 7.9 rbds
Jones plays much bigger than his 6’7 would indicate. He long arms and athletic frame gives him a 6’10 feel when watching him play. He is outstanding finishing around the basket (59% field goal percentage) and has a knack for rebounding. He also leads the Big Sky in block shots (67). The Portland transfer has 8 double-doubles this season and nearly had two last year against Seattle (15 & 12 followed by 8 & 9). He had 18 & 9 vs SU earlier this year. He is a brutal matchup on both ends of the floor.
Keys to the Game:
1- Slow the Waters to a trickle- Waters is the engine to the Portland State offense. They can run wild when he is rolling.
2- Rebounding- SU has not won a game this year when they have not out-rebounded their opponents. Jamie Jones and Julius Thomas provide a monster challenge on the glass.
3- Defend the 3- Do not let Portland State get rolling from 3.

We had a trip to Florida once using a rented car from a local car rental shop. Boy did we loved our trip because of the car! The car was really great, as if we were riding something that was flying. We had a an enjoyable trip with my family last weekend. We didn’t use our car but we just rented a car from a local car rental since my husband uncomfortable of the rough road. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

All that is on my mind is cigs. I i’m sure i don’t like to light up and if anyone offered a draw right now, I will not accept. I feel I’m in a very terrible emotional state and have been having trouble going to sleep yet I recognize I will need to end up tough. The e cig may also be helpful in the long run.

I smoked cigarettes for forever. I recognize it affects my health so I must stop smoking and yet it’s been almost impossible. None of the stop smoking hints worked for me. Then I stumbled upon the smokeless cigarettes. It has in a literal sense saved my life. No more inhaling toxic chemicals feels wonderful!

I visited to the dentist a few weeks ago to have my braces on. I’m still having difficulty in chewing because of the wires. I also observed that I’m having a lot of cuts inside my mouth because of the wires and I find it very inconvenient . When I was a kid I’ve always dreamed to become a dentist. That’s the rationale why I went to the university to study dentistry. I’m currently in my sophomore year and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do well in all the courses so that I can finish soon enough and be able to practice my dream job . We were fooling around at the pool Saturday when I accidentally slipped and hit my face on the ground . I thought nothing was wrong when I realizes I lost my front tooth. It was later that I realized that my mouth was full of blood because of the missing tooth. We immediately went to the dentist to get it repaired.

I find it very painful to drink a glass of cold water which is definitely unusual for me. I was astonished to see my co-worker with really sparkling teeth yesterday. She said she went to the dentist to have her teeth bleached. Because of her statements I’m thinking to visit my dentist Thursday to have dental bleaching as well.

I have a appointment with my dentist Monday to have my braces extracted. I am so thrilled because I have been wearing my braces for 2 years now. I can no longer recall how I really looked without my braces. I’m thinking to have a hair cut after visiting the dentist to have a overall make over of myself. I’ll be visiting to the dentist tomorrow to go together with my grandfather. He’s having troubles with his false teeth because it keeps on coming off. whenever he chews or talks it would just suddenly come off and he finds it very embarrassing . We’re considering to have his false teeth repaired or maybe get him some new ones.

My friend has a dealing on car rentals and he really loves having it. Part of his business is also cleaning small parts of cars. I can’t help thinking about cars being borrowed by people you barely are familiar with. Although it is a good business, it is rather not that reliable for me since I am a kind of person who his profit. My father used turn down the idea of renting a car from a car rental. He would say that it is an unsafe idea since it is not our personal car that we would be renting and using. Although we would be paying for the car, he would still refuse to ride it. It would be practical for a person who does not have a car to just go to car rentals and rent a good one to use. Although it is a bit costly, it is still a necessity since the car would be really useful. For fathers that still don’t have money to finance car loans, I’m sure a lot of them would go to car rentals and just rent one.

Do you think people are getting tattoos without having any idea what they mean. Or why they wanted it. My nephew explained to me that he got a full sleeve tattoo because he thought it would be cool. He is old enough to have a tatoo and had the money to pay for it. So everything was legit except for his reason. I have tats but they all have meaning and I had to earn the priveldge of wearing them. What’s you take on people getting tats for no reason.

A human cold is a virus for humans, just as kennel cough is a virus for dogs. Antibiotics wouldn’t do us any good and they won’t do any good for your dog. You just have to wait and let the virus work through.

A little help from an experienced user: Taking out the described house protecting is usually a famous topic in these days. With Firefox it is easy. When loading barn buddy right go through the barn buddy logo and go to quality menu and just select Low. Now check out a house protected farm, House will never be available.
